Tribute to American fallen heroes on Memorial Day
Posted under: Lopez, a 2001 graduate of Romeoville High School, joined the Army in 2003. He was injured in 2006 when his Humvee was hit by a roadside bomb south of Baghdad, Iraq.
“Five years ago, Spc. Lopez was gravely wounded and lost both his legs,” said U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). “But he never lost his will to fight — to fight through all of the rehab, all of the surgeries, all that it took to put his life together, and come back to his family.”
